Quick answer
For toddlers who love variety, the Sands Ahoy! set offers more tools including a dump truck and pinwheel, while the Shore Thing set is a simpler, budget-friendly option with a large bucket and easy-carry handle.
What comes in each set
The Shore Thing set (orange) includes a large bucket with a kid-friendly handle, a shovel, a rake, a sifter, and a sand mold. It’s designed for easy carrying and basic sand play like digging, building, and sifting.
The Sands Ahoy! set (navy) is more elaborate, featuring a bucket with a funky handle, a spinning pinwheel, a mini dump truck, a sifter, a rake, a shovel, and three sand molds shaped like a starfish, crab, and whale. This set encourages more imaginative scenarios like transporting sand or creating patterns.
Portability and storage
Both sets come with a bucket that holds the smaller pieces, but the Shore Thing’s bucket is larger and has a handle designed for little hands to carry easily. The Sands Ahoy! bucket is also portable but its handle is described as 'funky' rather than ergonomic. If you plan to walk to the beach or park, the Shore Thing may be slightly easier for a toddler to manage.
